I also think that the process by which the game records games doesn't take up much processing power.
No one would want to run replays if they took up multiple megabytes.

Like I got some 1080p videos that are only 23 minutes long but take up over 700 mb. These are the negative aspects of getting replays that only take up like 1000 kb at the very largest. It is also why you can't really use a replay to determine shot placement down to a pixel's precision.
This is why you might notice during a replay that your tank sort of "bounces" along? Maybe? I notice it, at least. However it is not *precisely* a carbon copy, it's just a bunch of disconnected instants of time that the game is tying together using whatever code they do it with. The information is then stuck into the game executable and the game "runs" it and makes it look like a regular match. What it comes down to is that the replays are not "recordings" like FRAPS or whatever, rather they are snapshots containing information about the game, probably the same kind of information that the server sends the client to tell it what's going on in the game. Well there's also changes made to the client that make previous replays incompatible If you don't need an internet connection, then aren't the server-based stats not important for a replay? It's not like the replay is calculating anything, it's just playing back bits of information.ĮDIT: yeah it worked out fine so I don't think it has so much to do with anything on the server, rather just it was a hashed together project in the first place probably that they didn't plan on initially but figuredo ut something sort of slap-shod that "works". I have never tried it but I think I will in the next five minutes. ^^^ Lert I have a feeling you can watch replays with no internet connection.
